Iron is an essential mineral that helps transport oxygen throughout the body (1). In addition, Iron is also required for an optimal functioning immune system, energy metabolism and cell respiration (1).  

Intense activity, such as training or competition, affects the absorption and availability of Iron in the blood (2). During intense exercise, the body needs more oxygen to supply muscles with enough energy (3). Increasing the horse's Iron intake, by adding a supplement to the ration, supports the transport of oxygen during exercise. This has a positive effect on the energy capacity of the horse's body.  

B-Vitamins are key components for a properly functioning nervous system and therefore promote calm behaviour in horses. This in turn has a positive effect on the horse's ability to concentrate (4). In addition, B vitamins have an anti-oxidant function and are required for energy metabolism in the body (5).
