Methylsulphonylmethane is an organically bound sulphur and is an important component for amino acid and protein synthesis in the body (1). Research shows that MSM has an anti-inflammatory effect which has a significant positive effect on the horse's mobility (2,3). In addition, MSM also has an antioxidant effect through which it neutralises free radicals created by oxidative stress during intense exercise in the body (4,5).
Vitamin C also functions as an antioxidant and is therefore also able to neutralise free radicals in the body (6). In addition, Vitamin C has been shown to increase the supporting effect of MSM when the combination of both ingredients are added to the horse's diet (4).
